Merwin<\/a>.  Here is one of his:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Separation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Your  absence has gone through me<br \/>\nLike thread through a needle.<br \/>\nEverything  I do is stitched with its color.<\/p>\n<p>and another:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Rain  Light<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">All day the stars watch from long ago<br \/>\nmy mother said  I am going now<br \/>\nwhen you are alone you will be all right<br \/>\nwhether  or not you know you will know<br \/>\nlook at the old house in the dawn rain<br \/>\nall  the flowers are forms of water<br \/>\nthe sun reminds them through a white  cloud<br \/>\ntouches the patchwork spread on the hill<br \/>\nthe washed colors  of the afterlife<br \/>\nthat lived there long before you were born<br \/>\nsee  how they wake without a question<br \/>\neven though the whole world is  burning<\/p>\n<p>Lovely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have a new poet laureate, W.S.
