Now that I have a full time job, family, and mortgage, getting back into traditional academics is quite difficult. However, I am not happy unless I am learning something new, and effectively signaling understanding has its uses, so certification and internet-based degree programs have great appeal.
Unfortunately, the fact that there are many online diploma mills and questionable certification bodies dilutes the credibility of these signals, and I have been forced to be selective about which certifications I aquire. So far, they include:
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence Development (MCTS: SQL 2005 BI)
- Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist: SQL Server 2005 (MCTS: SQL 2005)
- Certified Quality Process Analyst (ASQ CQPA)
Further certifications of interest:
- APICS The Association for Operations Management
- American Society for Quality (ASQ)
- The Institute of Business Forecasting & Planning (IBF)
- SAS
- TDWI
